The Awards Programme

The Trust is funded primarily by social enterprise Academic Dress Hire with over 1200 financial awards funded since the Trust’s inception 16 years ago.

Selection is based on an academic and holistic approach, considering such things as financial need, whether the applicant is first in family to study or any challenges they may have. Awardees tell of the profound impact receiving an award has on both their financial and emotional wellbeing, providing acknowledgment and encouragement as well as financial support.

Emeritus Professor Dame Charmian O’Connor retires as a trustee from The KEECT

After a long association with the Trust, founding trustee Dame Charmian is stepping down.   Her knowledge, skill and passion will be missed but she will continue to serve on some Award Selection Panels, and will always remain a precious taonga for The KEECT.  We wish her a long and happy retirement.

Our Awards can be life changing…

“I am beyond grateful for this award. It came at a time where I was weighing up my options as to whether or not I would be able to continue my studies.

It relieved the pressure of a drop in income and allowed me to focus on my study without financial worries hanging over my head.

It gave me a boost when I needed it and helped me to feel more confident in my abilities and achievements in my study so far.”

– Toni-Lee, Tressa Thomas Retraining Awardee
